Pep Guardiola has spoken of his respect for the traditions and history of Wembley ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal.

The Manchester City boss has previously tasted success as a player and manager at the original and latest version of the stadium, but will take charge of the Blues under the famous arch for the first time this weekend.

Speaking to the press ahead of Sunday’s game, Pep expressed his affection for the home of English football and reiterated his desire to ensure City return to north west London for the final in May.

“Wembley is an important part of my life,” he said.

“To go back is special always. We would like to be there for the final.

“The English tradition makes the FA Cup great. It’s a very special stadium.”

The manger also provided an injury update ahead of Sunday’s showdown as he confirmed John Stones will miss out, but there was better news for Gabriel Jesus, who is in contention for a place in the squad.
