I Speak Football
Melbourne is a multi-cultural city where up to 36% of the population were born overseas.
Many young people can feel a sense of loneliness and dislocation when they first arrive, so Mo and other Young Leaders are using the power of football to reach out, provide a safe space and create an inclusive network where participants can make new friends and receive language and homework support that will help them both in and out of school.
“I think football transcends cultural differences. I think every person, no matter how you grew up, football has that influence on people. That feeling of being free, ” says Mo, 18.
“Our project deals with discrimination and social inclusion using the power of football."
This project is delivered by Melbourne City in the Community.
